Recently, Dubai was the stage for a jaw-dropping moment in music history: DJ Armin van Buuren’s mind-blowing DJ set atop the Burj Khalifa, marking the highest DJ performance ever recorded. And when you're working at that altitude, every single shot has to be perfect.
That's where we came in. Over the course of two intense days, we had the privilege of working with 11 drone teams and a helicopter to capture this epic performance live. It was a unique experience, and we pulled out all the stops to ensure we did justice to this record-breaking event.
Day 1: Rehearsals
Day one was all about planning and precision. Our team spent the entire day fine-tuning camera movements, syncing up to the beats of DJ Armin, and making sure our equipment was ready for the real thing. The Inspire 3 drones were our go-to for cinematic, high-quality shots, while the FPV drones added a whole new level of excitement, capturing fast-paced, immersive footage that put viewers right in the heart of the action.
Day 2: The Main Event
Day two was where everything came together. The Burj Khalifa, the Dubai skyline, and DJ Armin’s beats—there was an energy in the air that was impossible to ignore. As the music echoed from the highest point in the world, we used our Inspire 3 drones for those sweeping, dramatic shots, while the FPV drones dived in for closer, more dynamic angles, showing DJ Armin in his element.
The helicopter gave us those wide, panoramic views that captured the sheer scale of the event, with Dubai’s stunning skyline as the backdrop. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience, and the result? Some of the most stunning aerial footage we’ve ever captured.
